Greenpeace published on 5 February, a map in the areas which are now pending for 2009 are located in Germany.

The majority of farmers in Germany reject the cultivation of GM crops still does. The 3568 hectares now registered GM maize represent only 0.17 percent of the total maize-growing area in Germany. The forecasts of the biotech industry did not occur a second time. The cultivation of GM maize widens out, it goes back compared to last year. In Bavaria alone, 42 percent less cultivation areas are reported.

Most of the sites are as followed in recent years in Brandenburg, Saxony and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Many European countries such as France, Austria, Greece, Poland, Hungary and Switzerland have banned the cultivation of GM maize risk. This year will grow GM maize in appreciable quantities expected in the EU only in Germany, Spain and Portugal.
